This is a night shift position monitoring the Public Safety Communications network. Telecommunications System Technician II performs PMs on MW equipment, such as microwave radio equipment (both analog and digital), multiplex equipment (both analog and digital), switches, routers, servers, firewalls, network cores, VPNs, VLANs, DMZs, TSM800, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, MW antenna systems, MW DC and AC power systems, and telephone equipment to component level using specialized test equipment. Incumbent performs functional and operational checks.
Under the general supervision of the Telecommunications Systems Operations Supervisor I , the Telecommunications System Technician II (TST II) is responsible for responding to and resolving public safety communications problems for State Agency clients. The TST II will also functionally report to the assigned shop lead as required. The duties are performed by following FCC rules and regulations, utilizing at a minimum, office-provided training, complex test equipment, computers, hand tools, the Telecommunications Division Manual (TDM), and technical literature. Incumbent will communicate effectively on all written and verbal interactions, frequently interfacing with customers and co-workers to resolve issues and collaborate. The TST II will maintain a professional and team-centered environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Incumbent will work proficiently with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook, and Excel. In Office: This position supports and manages the day-to-day business operations for Cal OES which is handled in an office location. This is not considered a hybrid telework position.
DMV Pull Program : Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid California Driver’s License (CDL). THIS POSITION IS SUBJECT TO THE POST & BID PROCESS:

Required:
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to work 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a 24x7 operation.
Background Investigation: Candidates are required to submit to a background investigation process, including but not limited to Live Scan fingerprinting to obtain Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigations clearances.
Telecom License Requirement: To be eligible for consideration, you must possess an FCC General Radiotelephone Operator’s License or industry accepted equivalent (please refer to the Classification Specifications). Please include a copy of your license or reference your Call Number or FRN #.
