Senior Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

Apply modern IT acquisition strategies, performance metrics, and quality standards for planning, cybersecurity, testing, validation, and lifecycle support of IT/software systems.

Review program portfolios to recommend improvements, maintain technical baselines, and ensure compliance through system-level testing.

Evaluate proposed plans and engineering processes to confirm system performance meets specifications.

Develop technical documentation defining system and subsystem requirements.

Prepare reports and deliver presentations for planning, implementation, and corrective actions.

Validate software systems by creating evaluation criteria, analyzing results, and providing recommendations.

Support Agile and digital engineering initiatives across acquisition, development, integration, sustainment, deployment, and operations.

Contribute to risk management activities aligned with AF Systems Engineering Assessment Model (SEAM).

Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable DoD and Air Force directives, instructions, and manuals.

Skills and Requirements

Qualifications:

Advanced degree in a technical field (e.g., computing, IT, engineering) with roughly 10 years of experience, including several years in defense-related work;

Bachelor's degree in a similar discipline with about 12 years of relevant experience, including significant DoD exposure;

Extensive hands-on experience (around 15 years) with appropriate professional certifications, including substantial defense-sector involvement.

Required:

Industry-standard security credential (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE).

Eligibility for and maintenance of a federal background clearance (Tier 1/NACI).

Preferred Certifications:

Cloud architecture or practitioner credentials (AWS or comparable platforms).

Database or platform certifications (Oracle/OCI or equivalent).

Agile/Scrum methodology certifications.
