Position Specific Description In this job you will: - Perform on site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex server problems and recommend and implement corrective hardware and/or software solutions.
- Recommend, schedule and perform server OS improvements, upgrades, and repairs.
- Provide guidance to junior members of the team as required.
Technical Proficiency - Linux/Unix Administration
- Expertise in Unix/Linux operating systems, particularly IBM AIX and Linux.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Perl, shell scripting, Bash, Python) for task automation.
- Hands-on experience with Unix virtualization technologies (IBM PowerVM, VMware).
- Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools.
- Experience in clustering and/or high availability solutions that include IBM PowerHA.
General IT Skills - Strong understanding of network protocols, security measures, routing, and switching.
- Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery planning and execution.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices for IT service management.
Job Overview This position installs, configures, and maintains computing infrastructure, operating systems, and middleware products on all computer platforms, including mainframes, workstations, and servers - including web servers - in support of 24-hour-per-day, seven-day-per-week business processes.
Job Duties & Responsibilities - Evaluates, implements, and modifies operating system software parameters and product solutions for optimum performance
- Identifies integration and other interface requirements for all supported products and platforms
- Serves as a technical escalation point for technicians and customers
- Troubleshoots hardware, system and application issues
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications - High School Grad / GED
- Bachelor’s or Equivalent Experience
- Experience: 4+ years
