JOB TITLE: Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS or LCAS-A)
SCHEDULE : 5:30am to 1:00pm M-F
LOCATION : Sanford Treatment Center
SUMMARY:
Responsible for ensuring that competent, safe, quality, and professional care is provided to each of the patients assigned to his/her caseload or other team members (in their absence), in accordance with current applicable Federal, State, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Utilize knowledge of chemical dependency and psychotherapy techniques to introduce effective education and psychotherapy for patients under their care and in each unit under other clinical staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following:
- Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides quality care to the assigned patients, in terms of compliance with facility expectations, SMA, and other licensing boards, assuring the effectiveness of the therapeutic series.
- Responsible for maintaining all required psychotherapy needs for their assigned caseload as designated by regulations and the Medical Director.
- Conducts individual and group psychotherapy to meet treatment plan goals and objectives.
- Produce clear and concise documentation in all areas, including but not limited to: admit note, assessment, daily charting, weekly clinical review, staffing notes, treatment plans and updates, biopsychosocial, transition and discharge planning, documentation of family sessions as needed, and all summaries.
- Responsible for appropriate referral to each patient in need, and for providing open, clear, and ethical communication with referral sources; follow up of each of his/her cases after discharge.
- Motivates patients for changes, and effectively perform crisis interventions, screening, intake, orientation, assessment, treatment planning, and psychotherapy (group, individual, family).
- Appropriately and professionally provides care management, patient education, and keeps clear, ethical, and confidential reports and record keeping.
- Participate in weekly treatment team and staff meetings. Interacts and relates with peers and other professionals to assure comprehensive and quality care for patients.
- Will participate in crisis after-hours phone rotation.
Responsibilities Related to Medicaid/Medicare:
- Complete Comprehensive Clinical Assessments (CCA). The main goal is to ensure that consumers are given efficient and prompt access to treatment.
- Responsible for preparing the Person-Centered Plan (PCP) and Crisis Plan (CCP) for each Medicaid/Medicare client. Maintain the plan, update the PCP based on the needs of the client and/or requirements of the Medicaid/Medicare service definition, and LME/MCO.
- Make timelines to monitor work for completion.
- Responsible for the timely upload of all Medicaid/Medicare-related documents to the appropriate LME/MCO provider portal to avoid lapse in authorizations.
- Responsible for the research, corrections, and resubmission of all denied authorizations to avoid loss or lapse of Medicaid coverage for the client.
- Track each Medicaid/Medicare recipient eligibility via NCTRACKS monthly.
- Verify Medicaid/Medicare intakes to ensure their self-reporting coverage is current and the correct coverage for treatment services and catchment area prior to intake assessment.
- Track submission of CCA, PCP, and claims to the LME/MCO via the designated provider portal.
- Ensure that all counseling sessions as dictated by State and Federal regulatory guidelines are completed and documented to meet LME/MCO requirements and Medicaid/Medicare service definition as a billable service.
- Ensure that all documentation is complete and recorded in a timely manner in the EMR system.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work, or related field. Will maintain their LCAS, LCAS-A, LCSW, or LCSW-A credentials.
- Will maintain their credentialing with NCTRACKS and the designated LME/MCO.
- Registration with the North Carolina Substance Abuse Practice Board is required, and all mandated continuing education hours to uphold licensure. In ability to, an ability to work independently as well as with a team, the ability to maintain a high level of professional ethics.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general clinical reports and documents.
- Ability to respond to regulatory agencies.
- Ability to effectively present information to a supervisor.
