Insurance Specialist and Admin Assistant Location Sequim, WA :

** Experience in medical billing and coding is preferred, but will train the ideal candidate

Busy Optometric practice is seeking a bright, organized, detail oriented individual to work as our Insurance Specialist and Administrative Assistant full-time. The ideal candidate must have exceptional customer service, a positive attitude, excellent time management skills and be detail oriented. Also, a must is the ability to meet with patients in a professional and friendly manner. Candidates must be willing to help with other office duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments and checking patients in and out if needed. This position will cover for our front desk if needed (lunches, vacations, doctor appts. etc).

Duties Include:

  • Verifying eligibility vision and medical insurance prior to patients coming in and calling to update any old insurance info with the patient in a timely manor
  • Scanning insurance payments into system for our outside biller to process
  • Posting payments
  • Sending out statements monthly and handling accounts that may need to be sent to collections
  • Managing insurance Pre Authorizations to make sure patients have active coverage before their appointments
  • Managing billing portal
  • Reporting issues and trends as it pertains to insurance payments to our out of office insurance billers to make sure claims continue going smoothly
  • Providing patients with information regarding questions/concerns
  • Take the initiative to help assist other employees as needed
  • Responsible for other relevant work functions as requested
  • Answering phones, scheduling appointments and checking patients in/out

Skills and Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of insurance verification
  • Basic knowledge of accounts receivable
  • Business office procedures
  • Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
