Department Overview:
The Village of Glenview, Illinois (population 46,904) is seeking candidates for the position of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. In addition to incorporated Glenview, the Glenview Fire Department serves the Glenbrook Fire Protection District in unincorporated Cook County. The total population served is approximately 57,000. Job Information
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants for the position of Firefighter must meet the following minimum qualifications and requirements at the time of application:
Must be between 21 and under the age of 35 years at date of hire (exceptions for active military personnel and previous firefighter experience per 65 ICLS 5/10-2.1-6)
High school diploma or equivalent high school education
Good moral character and possess temperate habits
Be of sound mind and health and physically able to perform the essential functions of Firefighter
Candidates must either possess a valid Illinois EMT-Paramedic license from Lutheran General System, or obtain such a license within the first eighteen months of employment as a condition of continued employment.
Certification of having passed the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Aerial Ladder Climb test through a certified testing agency. CPAT card must be issued within the twelve (12) months prior to the application closing period. CPAT cards may be obtained through the following agencies:
o NIPSTA - Glenview IL
o Huntley Fire Protection District - Huntley IL
Valid Driver's License
Must be a resident and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
EXAMINATION: Candidates must complete an examination through the National Testin Network (NTN) and submit the application from the Village's website including all required documentation BEFORE April 14, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.. Any late submissions or incomplete applications will not be considered.

ADDITIONAL PREFERENCE TO BE CONSIDERED:
College:
Not Required. Additional preference will be given for associate's degree in the field of fire service or emergency medical services may receive two (2) points. Bachelor's degree from accredited college or university may receive four (4) points.
Academy Certifications:
Not Required.
Additional Preference- Graduated from the Northeastern Illinois Public Safety Training Academy
Prior Experience:
Employment by municipality as paid-on-call or part-time certified Firefighter II or Basic Operation Firefighter may receive 0.5 points per year up to two (2) points. Employment by municipality as Certified Firefighter III or Advanced Technician Firefighter may receive one (1) point per year up to two (2) points

HIRING PROCESS:
Successful candidates must have a minimum passing written test score of 70%, successfully pass a polygraph and successfully complete the background investigation.
